Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Kratom has been used for hundreds of years in Southeast Asia. In August of 2021, Thailand legalized the sale of Kratom, a landmark decision dating back to 1943 when use was first restricted. Now you can enjoy the benefits this plant and other natural remedies have to offer without legal concerns or worries of being in trouble with police.
Kratom is SAFE when taken in recommended doses. It is advised to always start with smaller doses of 1-2 grams before taking more at one time. More experienced users can take up to 5-10+ grams without risk if they have built up some tolerance. Although its addictive potential is far less than caffeine, we recommend trying to not take kratom every day to help prevent a physical dependence. We also advise not taking kratom if you plan to drink alcohol at the same time. It is not for pregnant women or users under the age of 18.
Like any drug, supplement, or plant remedy, kratom can have side effects, particularly in larger doses of 8-10+ grams per use. The most common side effects reported are stomach aches, feelings of dizziness, feeling nauseous, and being more tired than normal. The best way to mitigate your chances of experiencing unwanted side effects is to start taking kratom in smaller doses and not mix it with alcohol.
There is no one “right time” to take Kratom. If you are new to taking kratom, it is best to take on a full stomach or with food. This helps prevent any stomach discomfort or absorption issues. If you are taking a white strain of kratom, it is advised to do it earlier in the day with breakfast or lunch. Conversely, a red strain is best taken in the afternoon or evening. Once you know how well your body tolerates the herb, you can try taking it before meals or on an empty stomach. As previously stated, higher doses are more likely to cause possible discomfort so be responsible with your use and do not take too much at once.
Kratom is NOT an opiate drug that carries a risk for overdose. That said, taking too much in one sitting can come with serious side effects, especially if your body is not used to taking kratom. You should aim to take well below 10grams (20 capsules) in a single setting.
